“Do you know more than 11,000 hospital admissions per year are directly attributable to obesity in the UK!” By: Admin
This number has continued to rise and currently an average of 62 percent adults are considered overweight or obese.

Children are not exempt from this rise in obesity.

In the UK, about 20 percent of children at 6 years are obese.

The problems of obesity span from putting one at risk of developing potentially serious conditions like high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, breast and bowel cancer, among others.

To problems of low self esteem, depression and anxiety.

Consuming more calories than we physically burn, leads to weight gain since the excess calories are stored as fat.

Most people live a sedentary lifestyle often sitting for long hours at work, engaging in minimal physical activity.

It is then important to make a conscious effort to tackle obesity and continue to maintain a healthy weight through eating a low calorie balanced diet and doing regular exercise.

So, incorporating simple exercises like cycling, running, brisk walks, sports (badminton, tennis) into our daily routine, if done consistently, will go a long way.

Weight loss has been shown to improve overall mental and physical well-being, and it is a sensible and practical way of taking responsibility to improve one’s health.
